WE WON'T BE SAFE WHILE POLITICAL PARTIES ARE LEGAL

LARGE CORPORATIONS ARE FIRST TO LAYOFF, AND LAST TO REHIRE

Posted by politicalpartypooper on February 1, 2010

Republican Lamar Alexander said today that he is against giving small businesses money for job growth, but in earlier positions, he is for giving very large corporations tax breaks and monies to jump-start the economy.  This line of thinking is basic Republican Conservative boilerplate.  Ask a Republican what should be done to spur the economy, and the only response you will get is “Tax cuts”.  Ask them to expound upon this, and they will tell you that tax cuts for large corporations is the only way to jump-start any economy, and spur long-term growth.

Let’s see how that worked for us the last ten years.  The Oughts had negative job growth, and book end recessions…all in an environment of the largest tax cut in American history for large corporations and wealthy people.  Hmmm…I guess that didn’t work so well, if recent history is any indication.

But why wouldn’t it work, if Republicans tell us it will, and why do Conservatives consistently tell us that the only recession buster that has ever worked is giving money to large corporations?  Specifically, why would they tell us this if it has never worked?

Historically, small businesses are the greatest job creators in America, by far.  Also historically, large corporations are the first to cut jobs in a recession, and the last to hire them back.  We’re not talking about a ten-year period here, either.  We are talking about FOREVER, as in “history”, as in “all of American history”.  Small businesses:  Slow to layoff and quick to hire.   Large corporations:  Quick to lay off and slow to hire.

I cannot stress how historically important this is.  We have absolutely no evidence of large corporations ever beating small businesses in the hiring game…ever, ever, ever.

So why, Mr. Republican Conservative, would you deliberately lie about it?  Or are you really so thick as to believe that what you keep repeating is the truth?

When next you hear your Republican representative repeat this lie,  if you are a conservative and an everyday Republican, please tell him the truth, and ask him to stop lying.
