REPUBLICANS PLAN TO OFFER NO PLAN; BUT TO OBSTRUCT ACTUAL REFORM

Posted by politicalpartypooper on July 22, 2009

A quick fact check for everyone interested in the health care reform debate:  Republicans do not have a plan to offer.  Their only “plan” is to defeat the Democratic plan, and that’s not a plan; that’s just blatant special interest pander-monium.

So, if you happen to be talking to a conservative, and they start attacking the Public Option, ask them what their plan is.  Only, don’t hold your breath; because as with health care reform, Republicans intend to wait until you die before offering an answer.

REPUBLICANS ARE NOT WORKING TOWARD HEALTH CARE REFORM.  THEY HAVE NO PLAN, AND NO PLANS TO OFFER A PLAN.  THAT’S HOW LITTLE THEY THINK OF THE HEALTH CARE CRISIS IN AMERICA.  THAT’S HOW LITTLE THEY VALUE WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU.  AMERICA HAS SPOKEN; REFORM IS NEEDED AND WANTED.  REPUBLICANS HAVE CHOSEN TO SIDE WITH THE WEALTHY HEALTH INSURERS, AND FIGHT AGAINST REAL AMERICANS.

A few Republicans in Congress actually have proposed a separate legislation entitled “Patients’ Choice Act” in which refundable/advanceable tax credits are given & also provides coverage to those with pre-existing conditions while leaning away from a centralization of the system so that is not ENTIRELY accurate.

  2. Lagoldeyez,

That plan has no serious backing from either side, and for obvious reasons. It forces every person to purchase private health insurance, from carriers who already refuse coverage for pre-existing conditions. For small business owners, especially, this is akin to doing ALMOST nothing. At issue is not “choice”; there is plenty of choice in the marketplace. The overwhelming problem for the uninsured and small business owners has always been that they are at the mercy of private insurers whose only objective is profit. The Patient’s Choice Act has no language in it which would bar the practice of rescission, nor would it reduce the overall costs of healthcare.

I cannot state this plainly enough: The Republicans, in this instance, are not at all interested in reforming health care. They never have been. They held both houses for ten years, and had two terms in the White House, and never once approached the subject; when they could have won many citizens to their cause by passing legislation that was in their power to pass.

They failed, Lagoldeyez, BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T EVEN TRY. And you want us to believe that suddenly, it is their FERVENT, PATRIOTIC desire to fix health care?

No. No more lies. No more bullshit. The stories they are spreading about the bill as it is being written are false. They are spreading lies about the cost, and telling everyone who will listen that private insurers can cover citizens more cost effectively than a public option.

Then, Lagoldeyez, in the same breath, they turn around and say that private insurers cannot compete with any public option.

Well, which is it? Are they more cost effective, or are they uncompetitive? Both cannot be true at once. Do you see what the problem is?
