WHAT DOES OBAMA MEAN BY REDISTRIBUTING THE WEALTH?

This broadcast is from a Chicago Radio station, dated 2001. Help yourself get past the bias of the written words that appear on the screen, and just listen to the words. Trust me, you don’t need help in determining for yourself whether Barrack Obama believes “redistribution of wealth” should be enforced.
A welfare nation. I gathered from Barrack’s words that his idea of “opportunity” for lower income people does not lie in teaching them a trade or educating them. Rather, it lies in giving them a government handout. His words to “Joe the Plumber” said as much. He wants the people behind Joe to share in his fortune, so they can have opportunity as well. Maybe I’m wrong, but how can I tell?
I’m all for opportunity. I am not for giving out welfare, and then calling that opportunity. Handing a person a government check does not equate into opportunity. It is simply a government check…a handout. Opportunity happens when you create an environment where all people can succeed based on their own effort. Just giving money out does not create opportunity. Sometimes people need handouts, and I’m all for helping them when they do, but I am not for giving them handouts perpetually.
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
Barrack Obama may mean something different than welfare here. I don’t know enough about his past or his philosophy in order to judge. But with an issue this important, don’t you think he’d take the time to clarify the issue? Is he for government handouts. Is he for feeding a man for a day, or is he for teaching that man to fend for himself? He needs to tell America what he means by this. Until he does, he won’t get my vote.
